You'll never guess... so we'll tell you. It's 18-year-old Ritchie Blackmore, in a promo shot taken in 1963 for his group the Outlaws (that's goofy drummer Mick Underwood, too). As session players the Outlaws turned up in the studio for John Leyton and Heinz and on tours for Jerry Lee Lewis and Gene Vincent. The teenaged Ritch had already been in the 2 Is Coffee Bar Junior Skiffle Group, the Dominators, and the Condors — and did you know that Deep Purple (formed by Mr Blackmore five years later) was called Roundabout for the first few months of its life? Useless Facts Dept now signing off...
