News of Yamaha's MT44D system amongst other products.

Memorex, the well known cassette tape manufacturers, have introduced a range of three lightweight headphones to be marketed under the Pro-Series banner. The Pro 320, Pro 420 and Pro 520 are all British made headphones each providing a quoted 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response and offering the budget conscious musician both quality and reliability. Yamaha have released details of a whole range of recording related products to be launched onto the UK market throughout the coming months. The MT44D four track recorder is an updated version of their popular MT44 and is said to have an all-round better specification with full transport logic control, large LED tape and real-time counter and a more comprehensive six channel mixer/patch bay with a tape sync facility. In keeping with the previous model, the new system is available complete in its own rack housing or as separate units.

In the power amplifier line Yamaha are also introducing four new models: the P1150 150 watt mono, P1250 250 watt mono, P2150 150 watt stereo and the P2250250 watt stereo. Each amplifier is 19" rack-mounting and fan cooled. On the signal processing side of the range there are two new 31 band graphic equalisers each offering +/-12dB of cut and boost across all frequencies. These are the GQ1031 single channel, 1U rack-mounting processor, and for stereo equalisation applications, the GQ2031 dual channel unit.

In addition to the above, Yamaha have introduced the GC2020 Compressor/Limiter. This is a dual channel unit whose facilities include an expander/gate; threshold, compression ratio, attack and release controls, bar graph level metering and a stereo link switch. Further details on the equipment are available from Yamaha-Kemble, (Contact Details).

That's Tape (strange name - Ed) is a new range of cassette tapes marketed by Harman UK the Teac/Tascam distributors. The range includes two metal tapes, the MG and the more sensitive MR, and for those who prefer a chrome tape the EM type offers high sensitivity performance. All three tapes are available in the standard lengths of C46, C60 and C90. Further information from Harman UK Ltd, (Contact Details).

Soundtracs have announced the new M Series modular range of mixers. Available in either 16, 24 or 32 input formats with 8 subgroups and stereo master group outputs, each channel incorporates four band equalisation with two sweep-able midrange controls, six auxiliary sends and long travel faders. The mixer is housed in an extruded aluminium mainframe providing strong construction, all of which make this an ideal eight track or PA mixer. Details from Soundout Laboratories Limited, (Contact Details).
