Recording Musician was a sister magazine to Sound On Sound, in much the same way Home & Studio Recording and Music Technology were the other Recording/HiTech music publications.
In fact, Recording Musician was set up with a lot of former H&SR staff, including the Editor, Paul White, and previous H&SR contributors including Mike Skeet, Dave Lockwood and David Mellor.
After it's first year, it was decided to absorb Recording Musician into Sound On Sound, to bring a new format, much larger incarnation of Sound On Sound, which from then on would feature both hi-tech and recording content more or less equally, as it continues to do to this day.
