In amongst the seemingly interminable 'graft' associated with launching a new magazine, there's a tremendous atmosphere of anticipation and excitement. The problem, however, is transmitting this feeling to you, the reader. It's rather like being a stranger at a party — you're bursting to impress people with your dazzling personality and stimulating conversation, but first have to gain their attention. There are two ways of doing this: you can shout and wave your arms about in a generally 'loud' and egotistical fashion, or you can rely on natural charm and a captivating disposition.
Electronic Soundmaker & Computer Music, unlike certain others, adopts the latter approach — we hope to appeal to readers on the merits of our content and style. The new magazine will encompass ALL aspects of electronic music, including interviews with bands and innovators, technical features, reviews on the latest equipment, constructional projects and news from the industry. Also, each month, we'll select a single area for special attention — explaining techniques, reviewing the hardware and talking to the people who use it.
ES&CM is definitely NOT another 'gossip column' monthly, it's for people who demand the complete story, presented in a refreshingly informative, yet 'light' manner — please tell us what you think.
