Article from International Musician & Recording World, June 1986 |
In the beginning there was Drumcheck, Guitarcheck and Ampcheck. Then there was Keyboardcheck, Expandercheck, Accessorycheck, Rhythmcheck... I'll tell you the truth, we're running out of classifications for the sort of gear that's been produced these days!
For example, what is this month's Fairlight Voicetracker? How about a 'BoxthatletsyourvoiceplayakeyboardwithMIDIcheck'? Well we copped out on that one and tenuously referred to it as a Synthcheck. And it's not the first time we've had these sort of problems. What do you call the Roland guitar synth? Guitarcheck or Synthcheck? What do you call a box that lets your drums trigger a synth. Drumcheck? Synthcheck? Accessorycheck? Houndstoothcheck?
Never mind — whatever we call it you'll still find it in the pages of IM. Check it out...
