Article from Home & Studio Recording, November 1986 |
So far the response to the survey we published last month has been good but we haven't started to analyse it yet as forms are still coming in. If you haven't filled yours in yet, don't forget that it gives you the chance to win a brand new Alesis Midifex, which isn't bad for a few minute's work, is it? Also there are none of those difficult tie-breakers that I know you hate so much. The first correct answer drawn out of the bag gets the goods.
This issue sees our first video equipment review, although it is more of a user report really. It demonstrates that the cost of producing sophisticated band videos is coming down and you can buy the whole thing for little more than the cost of the new Fostex E16 multitrack recorder. It's still quite a few grand but that's not bad value for money if you're serious and it could turn in a profit if you get good at it. I think that we're going to be seeing a few exciting new developments in video in the near future.
In H&SR this month we do have a really good selection of products on review and we also have more than our usual quota of instructional recording articles. From what I can gather from the surveys I've glanced at so far, this is a popular part of the mag. Included is a section on simple op-amp circuits so that you can solve all your phase and matching problems in one easy lesson. So, get your soldering irons out and get practising.
