Paul Brady

Article from Making Music, September 1987

Highly rated singer-songwriter Paul Brady gave an entertaining lunchtime class recently at London's Duke of York theatre on the subject of songwriting, despite the place being half-full, most with musicianly-types. After a brief rundown of his career so far, and various anecdotes such as showing Bob Dylan how to play guitar chords minutes before Dylan was to go on stage at Wembley, Paul got down to talking about the nitty-gritty of writing and played us a few tunes. It was nice to hear that the man who'd written songs for Tina Turner among many others still had terrible trouble writing lyrics. Just like the rest of us. A recording of the class should be broadcast on London's Capital Radio CFM this month, under the occasional series title of "Rock Masterclass".
