SYCOmp 2

Seen having their fingerprints taken for later digital encoding are SYCOmp 2 winner Tim Barnes and his prize, Tammy Foster. This, as we all know, is a lie, because fingerprints cannot be taken in pairs. Got ya there, Mr. Clever Dick editor.

Tim, from Grove Park, London, is now the proud owner of a Roland JX3P having piled in with the maximum number of letters in his SYCOmp sentence. Remember, you had to construct the longest possible sentence that made sense from the words Roland JX3P. Again we had to disqualify some entries because they were arguably less intelligible than a ZTT sleeve note, but Tim romped home in the mid-200s to take the chequered flag, breast the ribbon, knock the leather sphere into the back of the net, and other sporting clichés.

Bursting into Syco with his sten gun coughing death... sorry, bit carried away by the cliché there... ambling through the Sycotic portals towards the end of March, he was presented with his neatly-wrapped JX and a nice card by Sy-person Tammy.

He does have an older polyphonic from a rival company, but it's on the verge of falling apart. When not studying for his final year at school, Tim talks to a Fostex X-15 and makes demos. He couldn't wait to get the JX3P home and whack those crazy tracks down.

AHB System 8

Shown below is the secret One Two Testing prizewinner handshake. The very generous Mr Simon Jones, on the left, is demonstrating the grip's startling potential at a ceremony to present the AHB System 8 prize from our August competition to the very lucky Mr Stephen Mordue, suitably positioned on the right. The AHB System 8 is a fabulous mixer, and Simon is a fabulous person. Mr Mordue told us that he'd heard about this kind of handshake before but had never quite got the hang of it. He went away clutching a big box in his left hand and practising carefully with his other. Mixer fans may like to note that a full review of another wonderful System 8 will be coming along in next month's issue. Lovely!

CASIO PT80

"Months ago I entered the Casio competition and won a PT-80. The photographer took ages to get the film developed, but here are the pics. It would be nice to see my mug in your excellent mag. I would just like to add that your magazine really is a good balance of info, humour, ads, reviews and chats, plus the layout is so inventive and different. Yours sincerely, Paul Kitchen."

Paul... you've got SUCH a way with words.
