Roland Synthesizer Tape Competition winner Alexie Knupffer of Bath Road, London W4 received nearly £800 worth of prizes at a recent presentation.
Alexie's composition, 'A walk in the great city' was chosen from among thousands of other tapes from countries as far apart as the USA, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, West Germany and Australia. The piece was an atmospheric construction of keyboard, sequencer and rhythm machine motifs.
As winner of Class B (non-professional) Alexie received an SDE-1000 digital delay unit and a TU-12H — Roland's very popular general purpose tuner. The prize was presented by Roland's Dave Green at the Brentford H.Q. of Roland U.K.
Further prizes from other manufacturers included Maxell XL-1 tapes, TDK SA-90 tapes, a Seiko stopwatch and two Fostex monitor speakers. Alexie also received a Roland Synthesizer Tape Competition trophy.
