Level 42

Article from Making Music, November 1987

Drummer Phil Gould has left Level 42. He was set to leave in December, but the band's punishing touring schedule has driven Phil to early departure. His reasons for leaving are apparently "musical differences". Auditions for a new drummer have already taken place, and Neil Conti (who played with Prefab Sprout, and did Live Aid with Bowie) is now Level 42's drummer. You can see the old Level 42's 'Live At Wembley' TV special on BBC1 on November 3rd, while the new band go back to the States to tour with Tina Turner.
