Calling all remixers... New York's unique dance rebel Moby has come up with another groundbreaking gesture in conjunction with his label Mute. CDs of his next single 'Feeling So Real' – released on October 17th – will include some very special extra tracks. The component musical parts of another piece, 'Every Time You Touch Me', have been made available as separate tracks on the CD with an invitation to lift them into your sampler and get remixing. As if this wasn't reward enough, Mute are offering prizes for the best effort sent in (on DAT) by November 7th to an address which appears on the CD sleeve.
How about $1000, inclusion of your remix on the commercial release of 'Every Time You Touch Me', and 15 vinyl copies of the same?
Furthermore, if there are enough quality entries Mute will release a compilation of them, with $500 going to each remix artist or crew included.
Rules are: only one remix per person/crew; keep it below six or seven minutes; any style. Good luck, say we; but whatever happens this is a long overdue step in the direction of interactivity, perfectly tailored for the modern musician. If there are any other labels out there who would like to have tracks distributed to a discerning audience in this way, give us a call and let's talk about putting them on our Re:Mix CD.
