engineer/producer | Neill KingArticle from Making Music, August 1987 |
"The job is more smeared than it was; I rarely co-produce, I often engineer, but the job involves 'production' in the broadest sense."
RECENT WORK: Spear of Destiny; The Smiths; Little Richard; Claire Grogan; Balaam & The Angel; Two Nations; Boytronics; Until December.
FAVOURITE: "The work I did with John Hiatt on his 'Riding With The King' LP. He's a great musician — he's worked with Ry Cooder — and has a huge voice, a proper singer. It's hard to explain, but it's almost like I put this record on and I don't associate myself with working on it — It's like, 'Mmm, I'd like to have worked on that — oh, I did!'"
CURRENT PROJECT: "An album with Eddie Kidd — you know, the Levi's ad, stunt rider bloke. Nick Lowe's producing, they want a live feel to the album, and there's a good band, including Terry Williams from Dire Straits on drums, Paul Carrack on keys and voice, Paul Kiley on bass, and Bill Kirchen, who used to be with Commander Cody, on guitar, plus a couple of blokes from Broken English playing guitars and singing."
