I was confronted by a dilemma: should it be the scandalous PR company which cannot supply review models of a well-known computer (but will sell the reviewer one at a discounted price), or the International electronics group which had augmented a neat little trade embargo on selected Japanese components (so that their cost in the UK is artificially high). The alternatives, though promising, lacked that essential personal touch and, more importantly, didn't relate directly to ES&CM — the major consideration. So I settled for an appeal to readers...

One of the qualities possessed by ES&CM is dynamism — we're constantly reappraising the magazine's content and searching for new features and ideas, especially if they provide an opportunity to include readers' contributions. Next month sees the inauguration of a section devoted to home recording and you can play your part by sending demo tapes and information to me — I look forward to hearing them.
