Meet The Band

Article from International Musician & Recording World, March 1986

Roland's Frankfurt stand this year had an unprecedented display of new Instruments and electronic equipment, and an unprecedented display of musicianship to demonstrate it.

Ike

Ike Ueno, by virtue of thousands of clinics and demonstrations, is one of the world's leading exponents of the guitar synthesizer. Ike's voyage of discovery with this new instrument has been going on for several years and he admits he is still finding new techniques and applications. An accomplished soloist on the conventional guitar, his unique sound exploits the technology of the GR-700 and all the tricks of a jazz-rock virtuoso.

Tommy

Tommy Snyder's sophisticated percussion technique has given him a reputation throughout America and Japan, where he now lives. He knows his way around acoustic and electronic kits but finally settled fora Roland Electronic Percussion system, The reason: "versatility and 'feel'".

Mickie

Mickie Yoshino fronting the Roland performance, is a very popular performer in Japan. Mickie and Tommy may be familiar to British audiences through their band Godigo, which played the theme music's for TV's Water Margin and Monkey. The entire show was presented, and the equipment explained, by Alan Townsend from Roland (UK) Ltd. as usual.
