International Musician was a monthly music magazine launched in early 1975 by Richard Desmond, Malcolm Green and Ray Hammond. The magazine was published by "Cover Publications Ltd", which the three founders incorporated in 1974.
Later on, Ray Hammond would sell his shareholding, and Cover Publications would eventually get merged into Desmond's growing media giant, "Northern & Shell Limited", which owned household name publications including Daily Express, Daily Star, OK!, and the Channel 5 TV channel. In 2018 N&S sold off it's media business and Trinity Mirror (now Reach PLC) owns N&S's former print publishing titles.
It had many editions published for other countries, starting with a US edition, and ran until 1991, and by that time it incorporated the long-running Zig Zag, and Electronic Soundmaker, and One Two Testing.
In the late 80s they regularly published an extra issue around Frankfurt show time, somewhere in Feb - April, and occasional special and Xmas issues.
