Article from Making Music, August 1987

Would you like to know which books we use most around the office!

Course you would. Best for contacts and addresses of music biz types are "Kemps International Music & Recording Industry Year Book 1987" (476 pages, £15) and "Music Week Directory 1987" (274 pages, £12.50). Our two most-thumbed guitar books are Ralph Denyer's "Guitar Handbook" (256 pages, £10.95), superb on techniques and styles, and "American Guitars" by Tom Wheeler (370 pages, £17.95), a sumptuous A-Z of that country's best stringery. Fave keyboard book is Julian Colbeck's "Keyfax 2" (240 pages, £6.99), an instrument-by-instrument guide to the past and present of things with keys. Still the best introductory book on reading and writing music is our mate Dave Stewart's "Introducing The Dots" (128 pages, £4.95). And last, the most useful thingsiIn which to look up record details are the huge "Music Master" (1331 page paperback, 1985, £9.95) and the two Guinness books "British Hit Singles" (312 pages, £6.95) and "British Hit albums" (190 pages, £6.95).
