The Case of the Disappearing Band
Seems to be Maple Leaf time on MUSIC U.K. — we've somehow wound-up interviewing two very fine (and quite different) Canadian guitarists in Rush's Alex Lifeson and Mahogany Rush's Frank Marino. This (I promise with my hand on my wallet!) wasn't due to the intervention of the Canadian Tourist Board with offers of free holidays, nor thinly veiled threats from the Mounties! It just happened that way (honest, guv!). We've also got another of our great free entry competitions. Up for grabs this time is a brand new Gibson guitar (the Challenger I) which we've also reviewed this month. I hope that you'll all have a bash at entering for this competition; the questions aren't too difficult and everyone's chances of winning are as good as everyone else's. Go on — it'll only cost you the price of a stamp!
"Guess what we're up to" corner now follows. Watch out for our August issue, which is going to contain a very special announcement about a new scheme we're starting for MUSIC U.K. readers. We're not going to be revealing plans just yet, but I think you're going to be very impressed with what we're plotting. Just to drop a tantalising hint, I can tell you that it is carefully geared to today's musicians' needs.
Fascinated? All will be revealed in next month's MUSIC U.K.!
Finally, many thanks to all those readers who've written in to us with suggestions and ideas for areas we might look at in future issues. Some of the things you've come up with are really original and we're going to try and incorporate as many of them as we can. In some cases developing your ideas may take us a little time, but already we've got one new series planned, and the idea for that came from a reader. So, if there's something you want to see us write about, do drop us a line and let us know. We can't promise to cover everything but, especially if we get enough requests for a subject, we'll do our best to include it. Anyway, I'd better clear-off before I disappear off the bottom of the page — happy reading!
