1. DCB-based Polyphonic Interface Scheme

This is the most economical polyphonic interface set-up for Roland products. Its nucleus is the JSQ-60 keyboard recorder which can control the Juno 60 or Jupiter 8A synthesizers and simultaneously the TB-303 Bass line, the TR-606 drum machine, or the MC-202 microcomposer with or without an extra mono synth. The JSQ-60 can also interface with the entire MIDI system or MIDI products individually via an MD-8 interface. In this system the TR-606 is shown controlling the new percussion synth and handclap devices giving it the capability of handclap and 'electronic' percussion sounds. These units are mixed through BX-400 which in this set-up acts as a sub-mixer for the entire system.

2. MIDI-based Polyphonic Interface Scheme

This is a basic version of what should soon become the standard professional set-up for electronic musicians. It is the most versatile and potentially the most expandable interface scheme in existence. With one lead the MSQ-700 controls the upper and lower sections of the JP-6 keyboard independently, and simultaneously controls the Juno 60 which is connected through an MD-8 interface which has assigned it to MIDI channel 3. This means that effectively the sequencer is driving three independent synths. It is also directly controlling the TR-909 rhythm machine. An HP-400 has been placed in the system solely so that its touch sensitive keyboard can be used by the MSQ-700 to programme dynamics into the rhythm machine.

3. Roland Interface System

This is a theoretical scheme showing all the possible communication links between current and imminent Roland products.
