In the late '80s, Soul II Soul held a regular club night at The Fridge in Brixton. This was where Jazzie B and his chums first carved out an identity for a disparate bunch of DJs, artists and singers to match the integrated pop image of groups like The Smiths. The party posse tradition had long thrived in the States, but by scoring a Number One UK hit with 'Back To Life' in the summer of 1989, Soul II Soul ushered in a new era of DJ-led production. And whaddaya know? They're back at The Fridge, every Friday night, 10pm to 4am, with tickets priced at £6.00 before 11pm (with a flyer) and £8.00 thereafter. Eeh, just like the old days (etc etc)...
